The ICAP Global Conference is in full swing, with 250 delegates attending from 40 countries. A few highlights:
This morning we listened to Dr. Nancy Murphy present on the common themes and challenges of prostitution, human trafficking and domestic violence, and were inspired particularly by her thoughts on healing. "Someone's story should never be told for my benefit, your benefit, or the benefit of an organization. Rather, story should always be told for the person and their own understanding".
And perhaps the most sobering fact I have heard in awhile: prostitution has created an economic dependance in our world that is second only to the arms trade. This is a wide-spread systemic issue that will require a systemic response.
Later in the week we will be attending a workshop led by a Swedish gentleman who will address that country's approach to the issue of demand. We were encouraged to see the issue of demand being addressed here, and look forward to his thoughts and insights.
Continue to pray for healing, freedom and justice for all who are sexually exploited... and for wisdom, creativity and favor for all who are engaged in the journey.
